Meticulous film archivist Arthur Penwright believes he’s found the discovery of a lifetime: the sole surviving print of a lost 1920s silent film, “The Somnambulist’s Prism.” But as he digitally restores the decaying nitrate footage, he uncovers single, subliminal frames of a terrifying, gaunt figure hidden within the film’s surreal imagery. The act of restoration becomes an act of resurrection, as the entity, “The Griever,” begins to bleed through the screen and into his reality. Arthur realizes the film isn’t just a movie; it’s a prison, and by restoring it, he is crafting the key for the inmate’s escape.
