Alistair Finch, a meticulous audio archivist, acquires a rare collection of wax cylinder recordings from a 19th-century asylum. Among the ravings of the inmates, he discovers a recording of a patient known only as “The Orator,” whose speech contains a powerful infrasonic frequency—a sound below the threshold of human hearing. Obsessed with isolating this impossible signal, Alistair digitizes and amplifies it, unknowingly performing an auditory ritual that begins to hollow out his own reality. The “prayer” is not a plea to a higher power, but a key to unlock a door, and Alistair is turning himself into the perfect, silent vessel for whatever is waiting on the other side.
